i think the 130mph figure could be about right.....

....only in as much as combined force in a head on collision... i.e.

50mph---> <---80mph = 130mph...

some people need to pay attention in physics... a golf and a porshe techart (probably lightened) dont weigh too far apart...

I agree with the people saying that it was not 200kph. At that speed, the Porche would have crumpled all the way up the front, and rolled considerably. Also, the Golf would have probably been scooped up and thrown over the Porche. Damage wise, the Golf would have disintegrated under the pressure of the Gforces applied, or at least be more mangled than that. The Porche? That would have been reduced to maybe the area around the cage, though that probably would have failed at that speed. Also, at that speed, I doubt the drivers would have walked away from it, even with the 5 point harness. The body just can't withstand the Gforce.

From what I can tell. Something happened where the Porche came down on the Golf. The damage to both cars doesn't look like a head end collision to me. The suspension of the Golf is collapsed in the front, and the hood and roof are bashed in. Also, it looks to me as if the blow came more from the side. If you look at the picture above, the driver's left of the Golf looks like it took a massive lateral beating. But, the front of the cars seem relatively undamaged, relatively speaking of course. To me, it looks like the Porche has alot of lower level damage, but not alot of upper level damage. That front section should be really pushed in.

Now, I know what you are probably thinking. Low level damage on the Porche, high level damage on the Golf. The Porche obviously rode over the Porche as a result of a high speed, direct head on collision. I would say the same thing, except for two things. As I have mentioned before, There just isn't alot of push in. Or even a bending to support the Porche driving up the car. The second reason is the ending location of the cars. At that speed, the Porche should have been well past the VW. (inertia and all that.) Instead, it is off to the side, but pretty level with the VW. What this looks to me like, is that the Porche wasn't going entirely that fast when it hit the VW.

If you want my opinion on what happened, it is this. Porche tried to pass another car. He lost control for some reason, and went off the road. The Porche then reentered the road, still out of control, but much slower. At this point, the Porche hit the car while airborn, essentially landing atop the VW, before spinning into the weeds. The car was probably going about 60-80mph when it went off, but probably slowed to about 40mph when it hit. This is just my opinion though.

That being said, the driver is a douche. You don't flee the scene you pussy. I mean, come on!

Keyser Soze: Firstly, who am I trying to defend?
You obviously have no intellectual ability whatsoever, you completely missed every point I made. It's people like you who make me wish they took the safety warnings ie 'POISON - Do not drink' off everything so the world could be a better place.. How the hell do you figure I make it sound like I was sitting there? The whole point I was making was that no one knows except the police who investigated it and obviously have experience in dealing with it, NOT someone like you who see's a few pictures on a website and thinks they can peice together the chain of events leading to it.
Maybe they did panick, I don't know or care about it, the point is the majority of people in the gumball rally participate to drive like complete tools on roads that are shared with alot of people who won't be driving like tools. If you're driving twice as fast as someone on the same road who isn't expecting you to it's a distaster waiting to happen. The other thing is these people in the rally are NOT proffessional race drivers, they're morons who have expensive cars, if they want to race they should do it on a track, not where they're endangering the lives of others.

Good for you and your animals.

ps. good luck in your imaginary car.

sincerly,
'wake up' - NOT a tool

you know what shut the fuck up all of you. you too "wake up". who r u trying to defend? you make it sound like you were there sitting under a tree taking a bite out of granny smith apple when it all happened, and you pissed yourself. maybe they were negligent drivers in the porsche, and maybe they were not the best of drivers in the VW. maybe the people in the VW panicked at the last second. or vice versa.

you know whats even worse than this. i tell you dear sir. there are people out there having inter-species relationships with animals and selling visual material of them for profit. poor animals. you bastards.

ps. i will rape all you in my m5. over and out.

sincerely

hoot: Once again, you are not a crash investigation expert. I've seen many things that don't appear to make sense in the result of a car crash. You wouldn't have a clue if you weren't there, you can't know how an accident happened or how fast they were going from looking at one car. Eg A car going at well over the speed limit could clip another car, keep going while the other car could go sliding, then flip over something and be destroyed.. You moron.

They did NOT die because they were in a shit car, they died because of SHIT drivers driving much faster than their abilities allowed - causing them to crash into some innocent people. If people want to race they should firstly LEARN how to do it, then do it on a racetrack.

Whoever was driving that porsche has too much money, too little driving skill & too little disregard for anyone elses lives.
I hope they are punished for what they did.

Why are these dangerous morons still allowed to drive? Why is this Gumball Rally, which is not even clever enough to come up with an original title, still allowed to be run?

This is horrible. Imagine if those poor victims were your parents, or grandparents? Would you still be talking about how the Porsche wasn't going that fast? Or that the crash scene wasn't more destructive? Good grief, you fools are just that.

This whole rally (race) should be banned. As a former racer myself. I'd never condone such foolishness on public roads. Never. If you like cars, speed, flight, then come see us at Goodwood's or some other responsible event.

Get these fools off the road.

Idk about the speed or details or coverup, but if they were abiding all laws why would they try and leave the country, come on. They knew they were in the wrong. This is a race of cowards like these two. I can't believe they are running it this year after this. Just shows how profit-driven some people are.

Dave is a friggin moron,
so is anyone else claiming to be a crash investigation expert. You were not there and just because you've seen a couple of movies with crashes doesn't make you an expert.
You do not know any details of the accident except from what you've read here and you think you know how it happened? Wake up to yourselves fools.
If you knew anything about gumball you'd see its just a bunch of rich morons with no respect for others lives who constantly break laws on roads when they obviously have no driving skill.
If they wanna race, keep it to the track, don't endanger others lives by being an absolute idiot.
Anyone who defends these guys needs a major wake up call - this is reality, not some stupid movie
