Shake off your midweek blues by watching this 5 minute video where Car Magazine Online got to test drive Darth Maul’s new Ferrari F430 Scuderia both on the road and on the track.
This beautiful and very agile new iteration of the F430 is 20bhp more powerful and 220lbs lighter than the regular Ferrari F430 giving it some super sexy handling abilities both on the road and on the track.
Scuderia Ferrari is the name used for Ferrari’s Automobile Division concerned with Formula One Racing. Ferrari’s racing division has completely devoted its attention and funding to its Formula One team, Scuderia Ferrari.
Scuderia is Italian for “Stable”, rightfully used to denote this new beauty built on Ferrari’s acquired F1 knowledge that is 2nd to nobody.
F1 driver Michael Schumacher officially unveiled the car in Frankfurt this month and also was involved in its development and testing.
510 bhp @ 8500 rpm
346.7 ft lbs @ 5250 rpm
0-60mph: < 3.6 sec
Top Speed: 198 mph
Aerodynamically Tweaked for more stability at higher speeds
Price: ~$350,000 USD ($40k more than the regular F430)
Ferrari claims that by 2012 they will have stopped increasing the HP of these magnificent stallions, as lighter weight materials will be used more and more in their construction in order to achieve even higher Power to Weight ratios.
Most stunning on this car is the color, called plain black (really?) as well as the fact that the car is based on the brand new F430 Scuderia. Darth Vader’s new dark side Ferrari produces 707 bhp at 8350 rpm combined with 712 Nm of Torque. All this power makes it possible to do the 62 mph (100 kmh) sprint in 3.5 seconds. Yes completely rediculous, who wouldn’t want one?
My friend who won the security contract on Darth Vader’s crib (seems that everyone is outsourcing these days) tipped me off that Vader was out at his newly launched Death Star Strip Club last week, so I did what any ethical photographer would have done given this opportunity, snapped off as many photos of Vader’s new ride. Enjoy.
Conflicting Data From 2 Sources
MotorAuthority.com reports: “The car sports a pair of race-grade superchargers with modified turbine blades and individual oil coolers, an enlarged induction tract with heat insulation as well as new water-cooled intercoolers that are twice the size of the units in the previous SuperSport F430.”
GTSpirit.com reports: “To make all this possible, Novitec had to add two turbos to the original F430 engine, and this was necessary to create the extra 217 bhp.”
Conclusion Thanks to the tie breaker article over at AutoBlog.com which confirms my memory of past Novitec Ferrari iterations (NOVITEC Bi-Compressor Kit, the centerpiece of the Rosso F360, via twin Rotrex superchargers) we can all rest assured that MOST LIKELY the ‘Tu Nero’ gets its balls from a pair of superchargers and not turbos.
Thanks to the official Novitec Rosso website’s lack of information, I cannot confirm my conclusion, but at least I am man enough to admit it. Cheers!
Vertu have released the second Ascent made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Ferrari. Unlike the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 where 1947 phones were made only sixty will be made. The Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60 is inspired by the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and features wallpapers and ringtones of it.
The Ascent is made of Ferrari Titanium and uses the same Philips screws and leather as used in Ferrari cars. The back features the iconic Ferrari gate in titanium.
The phone comes with a comes with a Vertu Aerius bluetooth headset designed by the acclaimed designer Jacob Jensen who has his own brand concentrating on designing regular phones and does alot of design work for Bang & Olufsen. Naturally it is one of the lightest full featured headsets in the world and also features advanced background noise reduction.
The phone also comes with a valve from a Ferrari F1 car.
Lastly as with all things Ferrari, the phone comes with a service package which allows the phone to be serviced every six months and have the leather replaced.
Unlike owning a Ferrari, having to only service your Vertu Ferrari phone every 6 months (vs. every 6 weeks) should be somewhat of a treat to any Ferrari enthousiast. 😛
The hand stitched leather of the Ascent was originally inspired by the outstanding artisan leatherwork found in the interiors of great European sports cars. Unique to this series, the leather used for this phone is identical to that used in Ferrari interiors, sourced from the same Italian Cows and dyed the exact shade of Ferrari red.
The knurled brake betal on the back of the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 is a perfect-scale replica of the iconic original found in the latest generate of Ferrari cars, right down to the specific grade of aluminum, sourced from the same slave driven foundry that supplies Ferrari.
As with most things of high value, there is a strict hierarchy to the legendary Cavallino Rampante, the symbol of Ferrari.
Cavallino Rampante as per Wikipedia On June 17, 1923, Enzo Ferrari won a race at the Savio track in Ravenna where he met the Countess Paolina, mother of Count Francesco Baracca, an ace of the Italian air force and national hero of World War I, who used to paint a horse on the side of his planes. The Countess asked Enzo to use this horse on his cars, suggesting that it would grant him good luck. The original “prancing horse” on Baracca’s airplane was painted in red on a white cloud-like shape, but Ferrari chose to have the horse in black (as it had been painted as a sign of grief on Baracca’s squadron planes after the pilot was KIA) and he added a canary yellow background as this is the color of the city of Modena, his birthplace. It is worth noting that the Ferrari horse was, from the very beginning, markedly different from the Baracca horse in most details, the most noticeable being the tail that in the original Baracca version was pointing downward.
Vertu has even captured the emotive soundtrack of a Ferrari V12 engine for your ringtone enjoyment. According to Vertu’s website you can play this through your stereo system to really experience every note of bliss that is the Ferrari V12 engine.
This video has a Porsche 911 997 GT3 pitted against the brand spanking new V8 equipped BMW E92 M3.
This video is so wicked awesome it doesn’t bother me the slightest that its in German. I doubt I would even pay attention to what is being said even if it was in English, French or Italian. Besides, just by watching it any auto enthousiast can sit back and just imagine which colorful descriptive words are being used to describe each vehicles beastly performance.
BMW M3 (E92)
Engine: 4.0L V8 420 hp @ 8300rpm + 295 lb-ft @ 3900rpm
0-100 km/h = 4.9 sec
0-200 km/h = 16.7 sec
80-120 km/h = 7.3 sec
Max Velocity: 250 km/h
Porsche GT3 (997)
Engine: 3.6L Flat-Six 415hp @ 7600rpm + 299lb-ft @ 5500rpm

The drifting clips are absolutely sick, notice how flat and stable both cars remain through very aggressive drifts!!
Pur Sang, meaning “pure blood” or “thoroughbred”.
This is the new Bugatti EB Veyron Pur Sang, a special edition version of one of the world’s fastest cars, limited to a production run of just five units in total.
In addition to everything that is a Bugatti Veyron, the Pur Sang body shell is made of an extremely pure aluminum alloy, to prevent irregular polishing, a carbon fiber monocoque body, and no paint. Only the bare carbon fiber and aluminum will grace the skin of the most exclusive car in the world.
The two-tone aluminum and carbon theme is carried on throughout the car, highlighting the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. The combination not only adds aesthetic grace, but functional performance, keeping the rather large Veyron to a svelte 1,888kg in Pur Sang form, shaving nearly 100kg off the standard Veyron. Considered against the backdrop of 1,000hp, the power-to-weight ratio of 1.88kg/hp puts the Pur Sang into the new position of world dominance, which is likely to be a familiar sensation for anyone privileged enough to own one.
Video of the presentation of the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang at the IAA 2007:
The owner of the yellow Enzo Ferrari in all these videos is Zahir Rana’s of ZR Auto, who has already been arrested in August in connection to his HIGH SPEED CHALLENGE YouTube Video in which he takes his Enzo up to 339km/h on a Canadian highway.
