@KingTito. I am going to have to disagree with you.. There are pictures of a pretty badly crashed GTR in Singapore.. And if you look at the pictures of the interior it's like it's never been hit.. In other words if you look at the pictures carefully you can clearly see that the body of the GTR is really well built and really safe.

In the United States, the only people driving porshes are old men with greying hair that are afraid of getting their car scratched...With the Nissan you're not paying a premium to buy the name tag!

Disagree totally ,, the GT-R is $70,000 but the Porsche is more than 140, do you want to double the price to show everyone how wealthy you are!? or you need to buy a car which value for what you are paying for, if I can buy a Porsche turbo for $70,000 I will defiantly think about the brand name, otherwise, GT-R is the right supercar for $70 segment… do you want a 140 thousands dollar car, just wait for the Lexus LF-A : ) arios amigo.. I will pay extra money for a brand name, but I will not exceed 5 grand’s because I will be stuped if did that

I agree totally - at the end of the day, the Nissan is still just that, a Nissan. I tend to factor in all the attributes of a manufacturer when I buy a car, and comparing Porsche's record in terms of both performance and engineering, especially SAFETY, there's just no comparison.

From what I've seen of Nissan, they seem to be the manufacturer of choice for the poor man's muscle car - they take a lot of HP, cram it into a cheap and shoddy vehicle. I can't imagine the GTR is going to be all that much better, and god forbid you actually crash one at the track or on the road, nissan occupants don't tend to fare well in accidents.

There are so many better choices in that price range, that it just doesn't make any sense to spend that kind of money on a souped-up G35 or whatever it is. Relative to the cost of a 911T or a Z06, you wouldn't even dent your checkbook putting a little more HP under the hood if you felt that concerned about a GTR being a little faster off the line.

Nissan definitely isn't Hyundai - Hyundai doesn't have a track record of covering up the fact that for YEARS their airbags were blinding people permanently because of poor design.

You'd have to be stupid to buy a supercar designed by a company that covered up those kinds of safety problems.

Okay I think I need to educate you on Nissan a little. Since I live in Japan for 15 years I can say that Porsche, Audi and VW is alway a car that Japanese view as great cars. The only problem is that the Japan government charges almost 100% import tax for a foreign car. This makes it pretty hard for Japanese to afford to by them. Unknown to the U.S. Nissan based customers out there, Nissan was in some serious financial problems a few years back. So bad they ask Diamler (Mercedes Benz) to buy a percentage of the company to help them out of a financial bind. But let's get to the real thing here......Nissan had to buy a Porsche 911 Turbo (Automatic) in order to figure out how to (bottom line) beat it. In Japan a 911 turbo is around $190,000 compared to the $120,000 else where. As for comparing Nissan to Audi's and VW there is no comparison because here (Japan) the german cars are the icons. Nissan is a coming up in the world but believe me don't believe the hype because over here I've seen Skylines and Porsches go at it on the highway. They are pretty equal but I'm afraid I will have to go for the Porsche because they have a better sports line up. Boxster, Caymen, Carrera, 911 Turbo, GT3, GT2 and Carerra GT. Nissan has the 350z and the Skyline.......if they were going to go after the porsche they should have started with the Boxster S or Caymen S these cars generate the most sales. Last but not least its how deep your pockets are.

Queppa, thanks for your interesting point of view! However the only thing this car is going to change is the level of technology that rival cars manufacturers will have to implement to up the ante. Porsche will answer back as with BMW and the others more luxurious brands of the world in order to keep Nissan in check. The GT-R is an amazing technological wonder (even though its a Glorified Infinity G35), as it was when the R32 GT-R made its debut in 1989 and smoked Holden's and Ford V8's in the Australian Bathurst 1000 touring-car race 2 years straight 91/92 which is when it first got its name "Godzilla - Monster from Japan".

To answer your question about what makes everyone else right, nothing does, not sure where you got that notion but you should re-read my post, perception is nothing that can be quantified by right or wrong as it it a qualitative measure of ones unique understanding of the world around them.

I hope you continue to visit the site and post your views, they are extremely refreshing and I look forward to all your future comments!

Cheers,

BRAND PERCEPTION, who freekin cares.
Clearly you only care about what other people think which makes you a sheep. You can keep following others in your slow porsche while all the gtr owners will zoom off into the distance.
If only you knew how much this car is going to change the worlds perception.
Oops sorry I forgot, you only know what others know because your a follower.
One question though, what makes everyone else right?
Just becuase people may assume or think one thing, doesn't necessarilly mean they are correct.

cARLOS, its all about brand perception. Don't get me wrong, I think Nissan makes fantastic products, but in the end the Porsche brand is still more desirable and exotic than Nissan ever can become in the publics perception, regardless how many GT-R successors or exotics cars their future may engineer.

YOU TALK ABOUT NISSAN AS IF IT WAS HIUNDAI OR ANY OTHER CRAP COMPANY, WHEN IN FACT NISSAN CAN BEAT WITH ALTIMA AND MAXIMAS PASSATS AND VOLKSWAGWN JETTAS AND AS I RECALL THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PORSCHES PARENT COMPANY N IM NOT EVEN GONNA COMPARE INFINITIS VS AUDIS, BELIEVE ME NISSAN HAS A BETTER HISTORY THAN THIS COMPANYS.

I don't know if the GT-R can replace my sweet spot for the 911 Turbo as my #1 daily driver car of choice mainly because it's still a Nissan. Regardless if it can shave a second or two from the 911's T's 0-60 or its awesome GT-R/Skyline history its still a Nissan. :)

If you can round up a Skyline, I'll round up a 997 Turbo and we can create an awesome video like your car vs bike video!

Excellent review. The GTR may just be replacing the 911 at the top of my wish list!

I'd like to do a comparison of it and a 911 the RaceDV way. Kind of like our car vs. bike comparison.
