Vinyl Car Art - Turning Cars Into Canvases For Art
Posted by Anthony CarboneJuly 3, 2008 at 1:43 pm

Since the 1950 hot rod days, cars have been detailed with pin-stripes and air-brushings. It was expensive & permanent and in order to finish with a flawless outcome required the skills of a real artist!
Today, automotive self expression detailing is emerging in the form of Vinyl Car Art.
My first encounter with Vinyl Car Art was during my very first Hot Import Nights 2008 event in Los Angeles this past May where I saw a Slammed 300c with Lambo Doors Covered in Vinyl Detailing.
While recently doing some research on Vinyl Car Art I came across Infectious, a community of car-worshipers and art buffs who create art for cars. They’re on a mission to help people further express their individuality through their car.
NOTE: They are not anything like that full-wrap Burberry Maserati Quattroporte monstrosity I blogged about the other day!

Vinyl Car Art is made from adhesive vinyl, can be applied by anyone, lasts for years and can be safely removed. Artists like Dalek, Junko Mizuno and Buff Monster are all turning cars into canvases for art. (See All Infectious Artists Here)

Infectious are also launching a submissions section (Submit Your Design Here) on the website, so that any artist around the world will have the opportunity to participate.

Founder Tim Roberts, who was part of the founding Twitter team, says that your car is the most visible social product you own, but it is also the least expressive.
They’re definitely a bold statement, but from what I understand they’re kind of like tattoos - very addictive once you get started.
