Ferrari F430 Challenge Race 1
Date: Saturday July 19, 2008.
Quick Note: Yes Patrice Brisebois won the race! Yes this is the same Patrice Brisebois that plays defence for the Montreal Canadiens!
This race was amazing!! Saturday was super sunny for the most part, which was an upgrade from Friday’s on and off rain which caused delays and cancellations. However 10 minutes before Saturday’s Challenge Race 1 the sky became black and it poured buckets of rain for at least 20 minutes.
After mother nature got it all out of her the sun came back out and it was absolutely beautiful again. They allowed the cars back on the track led by the 430 Scuderia Pace Car for 2-3 laps running with their wet slicks on to hopefully vaporize the water on the track. After a quick pit stop to change the tires to dry slicks they started the clock again and the race resumed with full force! Keep in mind the track was still wet, but the ‘line’ that the cars follow around the circuit was bone dry!
Also of interest, the photos I took of this race are my first solid attempt at photographing race cars in motion. I had about 1500 practice photos during the past day and a half while shooting their practice and qualifying races. Prior to this I have never really had much experience shooting “faster than traffic” objects. All photos will be posted and categorized as usual on Madwhips.com!
