We have all heard the expression that some cars are “race cars for the road”, but only few can actually back up that claim. Some of the cars that come to mind are the Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari 458 Speciale, and the Jaguar XKR-S GT . However, now Aston-Martin wants to stir up the pot with their own offering, the Vantage GT3.

From the Nürburgring  24 hours, to the Le Mans series, Aston-Martin has had much experience racing their Vantage racecars. They have decided to take all that they have learned from their racing program and apply it to the decade-old Vantage as a final hurrah for the car before it gets replaced in the near future.

Although no official details about the Aston-Martin Vantage GT3 has been announced yet, the company has released a teaser image ahead of the official debut at the Geneva Auto Show later this year. There have also been spy images of the Vantage GT3 caught testing at the Nürburgring just yesterday. From the pictures, it is clear from the massive fender flares that the new Vantage GT3 will be quite a bit wider than the regular Vantage. As this car will be similar to the race versions of the Vantage, it will go on a pretty extreme weight-saving diet, and possibly an integrated roll cage. Expect the car to have the ubiquitous Aston-Martin 6.0 L V12 stuffed under the hood, and as it makes 573 bhp in the Vantage V12 S, we could potentially see the engine tuned to create power in the neighbourhood of 600 bhp. Sources over at Piston Heads claim that it will be an extremely limited production run of about 100 cars. If you want one, you better act quickly.
