Back in November 2014, Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) and famed car designer Henrik Fisker teamed up to create a very special Pony car. Dubbed “The Rocket”, the car was an idea that blended Galpin Auto Sport’s engineering know how with the beautiful lines penned by Henrik Fisker. The result, as you would imagine, is a very impressive package. Now it has been announced that a very limited run will start production.

The Rocket is based on a 2015 Ford Mustang GT fitted with Ford’s optional Mustang Performance Package, which packs a larger radiator and oil cooler, a 3.73 Torsen rear diff, and Brembo 6 piston 15 inch calipers front and rear. However, that wasn’t nearly enough to make this a truly special car. So GAS decided to throw a Supercharger on the 5.0L V8 and the result is an astounding 725 hp. That is SRT Challenger Hellcat territory right there. But I am afraid to say that when it comes to beauty, the Hellcat looks like a brick compared to the menacing lines of The Rocket. No word on The Rocket’s weight, but considering that all the body panels are made of carbon fiber, I would guess that it will be lighter than the hefty 1,681 kg that the regular Mustang GT weighs. The carbon fiber molds were created by Fountain Valley, CA based company GFMI Metalcrafters Inc to bring the car to life.

Henrik Fisker has managed to take a car that is with sharp aggressive lines, and give it softer lines without losing any of the aggression. Fisker has given the ‘Stang a single piece grille that works well with the lines flowing from the front to the rear of the car. Within it, an emblem that spans the whole width of the grille is slightly reminiscent of the infamous “moustache” of the Fisker Karma. Yet the thin line pleasantly breaks up the single piece grille and gives a nice design touch. The team worked with well-known rim manufacturer ADV.1 to create a unique wheel that complements Fisker’s work.

The result of this unique partnership makes this a package that is more than just a modified Ford Mustang. This is a well thought out and executed idea and truly a unique package. Prices start at $125,000 USD, but they will also sell you a non supercharged version for just $109,100 USD. The production version will be officially unveiled at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance this weekend.
