Hennessey Venom GT: Now With More Power!

The Hennessey Venom GT is not exactly lacking in the power department. With 1,244 hp, the twin turbocharged 7.0L LS2 V8 is enough to propel the Venom GT to an official recorded speed of 270 mph (435 kph). However, the boys over at Hennessey seem to think that 1,244 hp isn’t enough and have announced that they will up the ante to the tune of 1,451 hp, and they are bringing it with them to this year’s SEMA show.

The recorded top speed run of 270 mph, makes the Venom GT the fastest car ever sold to the public, taking that title from the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which achieved a top speed of 268 mph (431 kph). However, because of its limited run of just 16 cars, it was not included in the Guinness Book of World Records because it did not meet the minimum production requirement (30 cars).

That doesn’t seem to stop John Hennessey and his team though. In spite of not receiving the official world record, this hasn’t stopped Hennessey from having fun with the Venom and adding some more power…because ‘Murica. He will be showing the updated Venom GT at SEMA this year.

MadWhips and CarZi will be covering SEMA live next week. To keep up with all the amazing cars and events at SEMA 2015, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, and Snapchat.
