The Ferrari FF was always an oddball in the Maranello-based company’s line-up. Here you have a ridiculous formula and somehow it made it all the more special. It was essentially a 651 hp 6.3L V12 stuffed up front in a two door shooting-brake AWD configuration. Simply mad. Now Ferrari, which never fails to surprise, has made the car even more bonkers. Renamed the GTC4 Lusso, Ferrari just upped the ante to pretty much a gazillion.

Firstly, the GTC 4 Lusso is a name that harkens back to famous classic Ferraris like the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, the 330 GTC, and the 330 GT. The last name, FF, stood for Ferrari Four. Four as in all-wheel drive and four seats. This name could prove to be more confusing than the last, but I think it has a certain ring to it with the Lusso nametag attached to it.

The Lusso will keep Ferrari’s complicated “4RM” four wheel drive system, however it now comes with the rear-wheel steering system first seen on the F12tdf. The combination of the two systems is now called the “4RM-S” system.

As expected from 681 hp and 514 lb-ft of torque, performance is quite spritely. This “Family Ferrari” can hit 0-62 mph 3.4 second, while the top speed is an alarmingly fast 208 mph. Improvements in aerodynamics, weight reduction, and a higher output engine all help the GTC4 Lusso out perform the FF it replaces.

The first look that we will get of Ferrari’s new shooting-brake replacement will be at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Follow our Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat (MadWhips) for the latest updates and coverage for all major autoshows and automotive events.
