Jaguar cuts supercar plans, and focuses on electric.

Jaguar is abandoning all plans to add to the supercar/sports car section of their future lineup. Any plans to create the next XK coupe/convertible as well as the production variant of the C-X75 concept supercar have been tossed out the window. Jaguar made it clear that the XK could be converted into a Grand Tourer, however, no further information on the topic has been released on the topic as of now.

Instead, Jaguar has focuses its attention on building two new luxury EV’s. One will be an SUV and the other, a replacement for the XJ sedan.

The large EV, which is said to be named X590, is reported to be a four-door coupe with a rear hatch. The X590 is said to have a new electronic architecture which can accommodate the software that is capable of autonomous driving.

Jaguar wishes to take on Tesla and the other electronic vehicles coming out of Germany with the X590.

Jaguar expects to put 20,000 to 30,000 X590’s on the road each year. The SUV, which is predicted to be more affordable. Jaguar surely is looking to capitalize on these segments for the future of their lineup.

Koenigsegg One:1 Crash!

Last week, the driver of an ultra rare Koenigsegg One:1 crashed his car at the Nurburgring.

There were only seven made in the whole world, and the current value of one is upwards of $2 million USD. However, a dealership in Australia had acquired theirs for $7.4 Million.

The Nurburgring has always been known as “The Green Hell” and we’re sure that this driver would remember that name as he walked away from this very, very expensive crash.

30th Anniversary of IndyCar race in Toronto

image (1)

This weekend will commemorate the 30th anniversary of IndyCar race in the city of Toronto at Exhibition Place.

The 11-turn track has experienced a few adjustments throughout the years when Exhibition Stadium went down and the Convention Center went up. This year a new hotel has been put up, which I’m sure will be full of guests staying for the weekend to watch the race. The pit lane has also been relocated on the opposite side of the track  for the first time in Toronto Indy history and several corners have been altered which potentially presents a psychological difficulty for the drivers this weekend.

Their are currently six more races left in the championship, it’s the ideal opportunity for anybody who wants to cut into Simon Pagenaud’s current lead and take the trophy home.

Josef Newgarden and Will Power, who run second and third currently, have the most obvious opportunity to get pass Pagenaud lead. In any case, this weekend they alongside whoever is left of the field, will all take a secondary lounge to Oakville, Ontario’s James Hinchcliffe.

Mercedes to beat Tesla Motors in its own Game?

Mercedes-Benz EV Concept

Looks like the time has come for Tesla to face competition for once to a market they have seemed to dominate for years. Tesla Motors chief Elon Musk once claimed and expressed gratitude to Mercedes-Benz’s parent Daimler for giving a helping hand in to saving the multimillion dollar company he has built now all because of the 50 million dollar investment Tesla Motors received in 2009. However, as Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market, Mercedes has finally now looked into dethroning Tesla in its market.

The Lamborghini Centenario

The supercar world has been buzzing with the release of many innovating and exciting supercars. Just to name a few: Mercedes AMG GTR, LaFerrari Spider and the Signapore supercar the Mazzanti EV-R.

However, the most exciting of of the new age has to be the ultra rare, ultra aggressive looking Lamborghini Centenario.

It’s sad to say that only 40 examples of this beauty will go to customers. 20 Coupes and 20 roadsters. The MSRP for one of these cars will settle at $1.9 million USD however, we expect the value to shoot up rather  quickly upon delivery.

Mercedes-AMG Collaboration with F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton?

It looks like Mercedes will be getting a helping hand from a popular Formula 1 celebrity, as Lewis Hamilton wants to help develop a Mercedes AMG GT LH. Lewis Hamilton, a three time Formula One World Championship, knows a few perks about fast cars and what is needed to get the most out of your vehicle. Possessing such expertise in this field, Hamilton wants to apply his knowledge to help Mercedes develop a road going supercar.

No plans have been finalized at this point, but the three time champion is expressing his desire to join Mercedes in developing a new vehicle as he has recently told Top Gear that he has been in discussion with Tobias Moers, Mercedes-AMG chief Tobias Moers about his idea. Hamilton has always made pitches to Mercedes about ideas he thought would be beneficial to the company after they bought him his first AMG GT R. From that point on, Hamilton was intrigued with joining Tobias to create a car like a GT LH, because of the fact that they possess F1 technology and a three time world champion driver.

Even though it may be very early to speculate if this idea actually may come into existence, we can predict a few things that Hamilton might want to do with the Mercedes-AMG GT to put his own unique spin on it. Firstly, it is expected that Hamilton would want an Affalterbach’s 4.0 litter twin turbo V8 engine, resulting it at least reach the 577 HP the GT R does. Secondly, he would probably want maintain with car’s dual clutch transmission, although Hamilton has proven to many that he is one to support the Save the Manuals movement.

In conclusion, if the plan that Hamilton has about his dream car ever comes into existence, it would not be the first time that an F1 driver has helped an automotive company develop a road going supercar. A few examples are that Ferrari and McLaren are both who regularly have their pilots test their vehicles.  Going further, Infiniti has reserved the services of Sebastian Vettle for promotional purposes of their company and Ayrton Senna has left his mark on the structure of the original Acura NSX. Therefore, Hamilton may now have the chance the join the list of celebs/F1 drivers to contribute their ideas into creating a road going supercar.
