This EDO Competition Enzo Ferrari came to Targa Newfoundland 2011 with 4 other supercars! This car is owned by ZR auto exotics Zahir Rana and was tuned to be a street legal Ferrari FXX. The car was tuned in Germany making 850hp and a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds!

Good morning beautiful sunny California! Today is day practice day before 2 days of races at the Laguna Seca 2011 Ferrari Racing Days at the Mazda Raceway in Monterey. I arrived in San Francisco yesterday and warmed up my 5DMKII by visiting Lamborghini San Francisco and Bentley San Francisco.

Among the Ferrari Racing events I am most excited to see the hardcore track only versions of the Ferrari 458, Ferrari FXX and Ferrari 599XX screaming around the track! Stay tuned for full video and photo coverage!

HOT OFF THE PRESS!! Checkout the newest kid on the block, the Ferrari Four. 12 Cylinders, 4 Seats and 4 wheels drive! It will replace the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and features a Pininfarina design which melds cues from the Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari California and Ferrari 599 GTB.

It’s propelled by a 6.3L V12 engine which delivers 651 hp and 504 ft-lbs of torque distributed via an advanced Ruote Motrici (4RM) 4WD system. Even though it is 4WD it is heavily rear-biased in order to deliver maximum performance and fun in all weather (see video below). It can do the 0-60mph sprint in 3.7 seconds and balls out delivers 208mph (335km/h). Full press release below.

Maranello, 21st January 2011 – The official Prancing Horse web site, Ferrari.com, has revealed the first photographs of the new FF, the company’s most powerful, versatile four-seater ever, as well as its first ever four-wheel drive car.

The FF – an acronym for Ferrari Four (four seats and four-wheel drive) – ushers in an entirely new GT sports car concept. A decisive break with the past, the new car represents not so much an evolution as a true revolution.

This new V12 melds to an unprecedented level an extremely sporty, high-performance character with incredible versatility, superb comfort and sophisticated elegance, guaranteeing both driver and passengers an absolutely unique driving experience.

Designed by Pininfarina, the shape and proportions perfectly interpret the FF’s harmonious blend of sporting DNA and extraordinary usability.

The FF features the company’s first ever four-wheel drive system. Ferrari’s exclusive, patented 4RM (four-wheel drive) weighs 50 per cent less than a conventional four-wheel drive system, maintaining perfect weight distribution (53 per cent over the rear axle). Completely integrated with the car’s electronic dynamic control systems, the four-wheel drive technology delivers record levels of performance on all terrains and in all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque distribution to all four wheels. The FF is also equipped with the latest magnetorheological damping system (SCM3), as well as the most recent development in carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo.

Exceptional performance levels come courtesy of the new 6,262 cc direct injection engine which develops 660 CV at 8,000 rpm. In tandem with its transaxle dual-clutch F1 gearbox, stunning acceleration figures (0-100 km/h in 3.7 sec.) are guaranteed. The new model’s class-leading weight-to-power ratio of 2.7 kg/CV, along with its ideal weight distribution, ensures exceptionally responsive handling. 5 Years after Ferrari unveiled their F430 challenge production model at the 2005 LA Auto Show, Ferrari throws down (just in time for Xmas) with the introduction of the Ferrari 458 challenge (based off the Ferrari 458 Italia)

Like all challenge cars, the engine remains untouched (V8 with 570hp), but performance upgrades include the vehicles F1 gearbox gearing and significant weight loss via carbon fiber and plastic modifications. Also a 1st for Ferrari track-only challenge cars is the use of an E-Diff electronic differential already employed on the road-going version.

It also has a hardcore race tuned suspension setup, stiffer springs lowered by 50mm, single-rate alloy dampers, centre-nut 19-inch forged wheels, Pirelli slicks, new-generation Brembo CCM2 brakes integrated with the latest ABS system, which debuted on the Ferrari 599XX.

Another first for a Ferrari Challenge model is the adoption of the F1-Trac traction control system, the most sophisticated of its kind, says Ferrari. Developed in-house by the automaker, the F1-Trac system constantly monitors levels of grip for maximum high-performance road holding.

Although the Ferrari 458 challenge was originally presented at the Ferrari Annual Dealer Meeting in July 2010, the Bologna Motor Show world debut marks it’s official production arrival. Ferrari claims that the 458 challenge is 2 seconds faster than the Ferrari 430 Challenge at the Fiorano test track and only 0.2 seconds slower than their military grade Enzo Ferrari, the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione. I am really hoping to catch the 458 challenge

6 dates across North America in 2011 will host these races: Infineon Raceway April 28-May 1, Laguna Seca May 20-22, Canadian F1 Grand Prix in Montreal June 10-12, Toronto IndyCar July 8-10, Lime Rock Park July 29-30 and Homestead Miami September 23-25.

Ferrari’s Corse Clienti department will also be bringing the 599XX, FXX and F1 Clienti programs alongside the Ferrari Challenge action to the Infineon and Laguna Seca events. So I guess that settles it, CarZi will be heading to Laguna Seca in 2011!! Awesome

Checkout this mean looking white modified Oakley Design Ferrari 458 Italia video. Oakley Design has limited the number of these modified examples to 7 cars.

This 458 Italia has a carbon fiber roof panel, carbon fiber spoiler lip which adds 25kg of downforce, carbon fiber rear diffuser which improves stability, and carbon fiber mirror covers. Furthermore it’s air flow is improved via deeper, wider sills to improve airflow and a longer carbon fiber air intake box and engine bay panels. Total curb weight reduced by over 100kgs thanks to further refinement of carbon fiber, and forged HRE wheels (save 20kgs) and a beautiful custom titanium exhaust system (saves 32kgs).

With these modification, the Oakley Design Ferrari 458 Italia can reach a top speed in excess of 208mph thanks to 623bhp (up from 570bhp) and 422ft lbs of torque (up from 398 ft lbs).

Checkout Ferrari’s latest one off; the P540 Superfast Aperta custom built (using a Ferrari 599 GTB) for Edward Walson (son of John – the inventor of cable TV). This is the 2nd unique “special projects programme” created by Ferrari for their most discerning and wealthy collectors. (See the first Custom Ferrari F430 here). Inspiration for the Superfast Aperta comes from a Carrozzeria Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari built specifically for the 1968 Fellini film, Toby Dammit.

On November 15, 2009, the Ferrari Club Victoria Australia held a fundraiser show to raise support for one of the communities affected by bush fires earlier in the year. It was a great turn out considering it’s 100km from Melbourne. Check out all the pictures of the FCV Show HERE.
