John Mayer Ferrari 599, Audi R8, Ford GT Photos

Not only does John Mayer have an appetite for hot Hollywood celebs (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry to name a few), but he also has an appetite for luxurious exotic super cars!

Back in June 2009 John was originally spotted putting some high grade octane in his black Ferrari 599 GTB at a gas station in Calabasas, then just a couple weeks ago he was spotted getting out of a white Audi R8, and just recently again at a gas station with his Ferrari 599. In 2008 John Mayer was also spotted at a gas station with his Gulf Blue and Orange Ford GT and also with a Land Rover Defender!

Lu Hao Ferrari 599 GTB China Video & Pictures

With the recent 12 Limited edition Ferrari 599 HGTE China Editions to be released for the lucky few in China, Lu Hao has further created a special one off edition featuring a cracked glaze paint job pattern designed to mimic the famed Ge Liln porcelain of the Song Dynasty, of which today there remains only a few hundred pieces. Ferrari 599 GTB HGTE China Edition Photos

Diamond sales are not the only materialistic western gimmick on the rise in China, so are expensive supercars! With that being said, Ferrari has realized the importance of the Chinese market and recently developed 12 limited edition Ferrari 599 HGTE with the help of a famous Chinese artist. Less than 12 of these new Ferrari 599 GTB HGTE China Editions will be made available for sale in China.

Ferrari’s development partnership with Chinese artist Lu Hao brought these limited edition Ferrari 599’s to life. It features a special fire red “Rosso Fuoco” paint scheme with a grey roof. Its design also incorporates Chinese elements inspired by Ge Kiln porcelain and the storied Silk Road (which brought Italian explorer Marco Polo to China) of Chinese literature.

Hao used an ancient Chinese script called “Xiao Zhuan” to engrave a name plaque for each edition as well as mark the car throughout, such as on the engine start button and the rev counter.

Glickenhaus Ferrari P4/5 Competizione

James Glickenhaus, the famous owner of the only 1 off coach-built Enzo Ferrari P4/5 has recently made plans with Ferrari that he’s finally ready to launch a North American Racing Team (N.A.R.T).

Glickenhaus commented that the specifics around engine/chassis/gearbox/design has been figured out and should be made public soon. The photo above is a rendering by Michiel Van Den Brink which is a “very rough” idea of what it should look like. Glickenhaus also that “we’re still working out the details and should have an image and specifications in a few weeks”!

“We’re looking for one major sponsor. That race gets 250k spectators and a lot of TV. In addition we could do other races and when her racing days are over we’d keep her in that livery and she’d go to a lot of events. There’d be a lot exposure and it’s not going to cost Crazy money,” said Glickenhaus.

In addition to looking for money (which in reality, he does not really need to make this plan happen), Glickenhaus also indicated an interest in participating in the 24 Hours Of Nürburgring.

Ferrari Replacements ENZO – 612 – 599

In recent interview Ferrari’s CEO and managing director Amedeo Felisa revealed that Ferrari currently has 3 new V12 Supercars in development! With the recent beautiful debut of the Ferrari 458 Italia which replaces the F430, and their brand new offering the Ferrari California (most suitable for your girlfriend or wife), Ferrari has a tri-factor soon to be unleashed.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (the least of many peoples favorite Ferraris) which has been out since 2004 is due to be replaced sometime in 2012.

Next up for replacement is the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, which has been in production since 2006 and recently issued the Ferrari 599 HGTE package to keep it competitively fresh in the marketplace will also be up for renewal in 2015.

Last but certainly not least comes the highly anticipated Enzo Ferrari replacement. No set date has been said as to when we could expect the V12 monster to make its way to the web via some spy pics, but do expect it to be just as bad ass as the Ferrari 288 GTO, Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F50 all where when they respectively made their own debuts!

HAMANN Ferrari California Photos & Specs

Specialist tuner HAMANN, famous for the Volcano based on the Mclaren SLR, and many other cars like the X5, M3, F430 Spyder has come up with its latest creation based on one of the latest Maranello horses the Ferrari California.

It retains the smooth lines of the California with some subtle changes to the body. Visually, it now sports a new lip spoiler at the front which increases down force on the front axle. Also on the options list are rear diffusers and rear spoilers for that extra rear end grip. The list of visual enhancements is long with every panel imaginable available in carbon fiber or fiberglass finish ranging from the side fender scoops to door mirrors, door handles and even one for the rear license plate!

A reprogrammed ECU boosts power by 20% to 552bhp, putting it in the league of the 458 Italia. Performance has not been revealed yet buy we expect it to hit 60mph around 0.1-0.2 seconds faster than the stock model. The car sits on special progressive springs that has lowered the car by more than an inch. This will go a long way in improving handling.

The best bit about this car are the awesome 21 inch matte black alloy wheels. You can have aluminum pedals and get the interiors spec’d in custom leather trim which is available on request. Prices have not been announced yet.

It is currently 6:16am here in beautiful Monterey California and I have been awake for the last hour resizing and uploading some of my 2009 Monterey Car Show Pictures for your enjoyment. Yesterday we saw a total of 5 red Enzo Ferrari’s, a rare White Porsche Carrera GT, a Ferrari F50 F40 and Enzo all driving together, a Porsche 959, 3 Bugatti Veyron’s, a Saleen S7 Competition and race car were both at my hotel and so much more I think I blew a couple fuses. What an amazing day we had running from hot location to location, today will start in about an hour! STAY TUNED

Jason Thorgalsen and Stephan Bauer are still sleeping as they got in super late from the party at the Monterey Jet Center (pics coming don’t worry).

An Automotive Design Pavilion will offer visitors a look into the future of cars. Easels will display 3′ x 4′ drawings and large, beautiful painted clay model will showcase projects aimed at car design decades from now. Alfa Romeo Spiders through the Ages offers a wide variety of beautiful Alfa Romeos. Current entries span early models such as a 1931 6C 1750 to the recent 2009 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo’s newest design masterpiece that marks Alfa Romeo’s re-entry into the North American automotive market after more than a decade.

There will be many exciting features at this year’s event. A very special display of Lancia cars will showcase models as early as the 1916 Lancia Theta driven by Jan Vorboril in the Peking to Paris Rally. Jan will be on hand to autograph a new book written about the rally entitled Peking to Paris 2007 which chronicles adventures driving across Mongolia, Europe and more.

The annual Maserati Days Celebration will be held during La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse. Visitors can expect to see dozens of unique and incredible Maserati cars including both Vintage Race Cars and luxury car designs.

Yesterday July 29th, 2009 was the 2009 Ferrari Club of America (Parking Lot Photos) International Concours at Osthoff Resort on Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin. After attending last years 2008 Ferrari Club of America Photos meet in Toronto, Ontario (at Eagles Nest Golf & Country Club) I knew I had to make the 10 hour (1000km) drive from Toronto to Elkhart Lake, WI.

Here is the latest and greatest Ferrari F458 Italia which will be the successor to the current Ferrari F430. I think this ultra slick new design is yet another positive step in the right direction as Ferrari matures and reshapes its most flavorful model for the next generation of money blowing punks and oldies alike.

Last weekend I was in Mont Tremblant (1400km round trip road trip) for the 2009 Ferrari Festival at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant. I attended almost all the Ferrari F430 Challenge races. Not back home for more than 2.5 days, I am I just drove 8 hours from Toronto, Ontario to Muskegon, WI and currently awaiting the Lake Express Ferry to get to Milwaukee….. tomorrow is the 2009 Ferrari Club of America Concours at Lake Elkhart, Wisconsin and I will be there to capture all the cars! FERRARI F458 ITALIA PRESS RELEASE

Maranello, July 28th 2009 – While it’s true that every Ferrari is innovative by definition, it’s equally true that in the course of the Prancing Horse’s history, certain cars have marked a genuine departure from the current range. This is very much the case with the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is a massive leap forward from the company’s previous mid-rear engined sports cars.

The new model is a synthesis of style, creative flair, passion and cutting-edge technology, characteristics for which Italy as a nation is well-known. For this reason Ferrari chose to add the name of its homeland to the traditional figure representing the displacement and number of cylinders.

The Ferrari 458 Italia is a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few.

A two-seater berlinetta, the Ferrari 458 Italia, as is now traditional for all Ferrari’s road-going cars, benefits hugely from the company’s Formula 1 experience. This is particularly evident in the speed and precision with which the car responds to driver inputs and in the attention focused on reducing internal friction in the engine for lower fuel consumption than the F430, despite the fact that both overall displacement and power have increased. However, Ferrari’s track experience makes its presence felt in the 458 Italia not only in terms of pure technological transfer but also on a more emotional level, because of the strong emphasis on creating an almost symbiotic relationship between driver and car. The 458 Italia features an innovative driving environment with a new kind of steering wheel and dashboard that is the direct result of racing practice. Once again input from Michael Schumacher – who was involved from the very start of the 458 Italia project – played an invaluable part.

The Ferrari 458 Italia’s Pininfarina design provides further evidence of the complete departure from the past that this new car hails. The Ferrari 458 Italia has a compact, aerodynamic shape, underscoring the concepts of simplicity, efficiency and lightness that inspired the project. As with every Ferrari, the car’s styling has been very heavily influenced by the requirements for aerodynamic efficiency, as can be seen from the downforce of 140 kg at 200km/h generated by the new model. The front features a single opening for the front grille and side air intakes, with aerodynamic sections and profiles designed to direct air to the coolant radiators and the new flat underbody. The nose also sports small aeroelastic winglets which generate downforce and, as speed rises, deform to reduce the section of the radiator inlets and cut drag.

The new 4499 cc V8 is the first Ferrari direct injection engine to be mid-rear mounted. It has a very low piston compression height typical of racing engines which contributed to achieving its compression ratio of 12.5:1. Equipped with the traditional flat-plane crankshaft, the engine delivers 570 CV at 9000 rpm and, with an outstanding power output of 127 CV/litre, sets a new benchmark not only for the whole Ferrari range and the history of company, but also for the entire market segment. Maximum torque is 540 Nm at 6000 rpm, over 80 per cent of which is available from 3250 rpm. Specific torque is a record 120 Nm/litre. However, what is truly extraordinary is the amount of torque available while still maintaining high levels of power at low revs.

The car’s soundtrack is also typical Ferrari, with an exciting, powerful growl emerging from the engine before it channels through to the exhaust’s three rear tailpipes.

The 458 Italia is equipped with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which increases performance whilst providing very smooth shifts even at full throttle. The engineers have developed specific, sportier gear ratios to match the power and torque curves of the new V8, guaranteeing high torque even at lower engine speeds and allowing the car to reach its maximum speed in top gear.

This new Ferrari is also a major leap forward when it comes to cutting emissions. Despite the fact that the new engine is significantly more powerful than the V8s that preceded it, the Ferrari 458 Italia produces just 320 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption is 13.7 l/100 km (combined cycle), the best in the entire segment.

The engineers also focused on weight reduction during the design phase for similar reasons. Consequently, the Ferrari 458 Italia has a dry weight of 1380 kg with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.42 kg/CV. Weight distribution is also optimal with 58 per cent over the rear axle. The result of the engineers’ endeavours can be summed up in to two simple statistics which together perfectly encapsulate the Ferrari 458 Italia’s exceptional performance: 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed in excess of 325 km/h.

For the new chassis, once more in aluminium, Maranello’s engineers incorporated various types of advanced alloys along with aerospace industry-derived manufacturing and bonding techniques.

With regard to vehicle dynamics, the Ferrari 458 Italia’s suspension features twin wishbones at the front and a multi-link set-up at the rear tuned for maximum roadholding and superlative handling. Along with a more direct steering ratio, the 458 Italia thus offers extremely rapid turn-in and body control whilst maintaining superior ride comfort.

The integration of the E-Diff and F1-Trac (now controlled by the same ECU) and their respective mappings is even greater, resulting in a 32 per cent increase in longitudinal acceleration out of corners compared to previous models. The evolution of the control logic, with even faster and more accurate calculation of levels of grip, ensures even greater roadholding, better handling and ease of control on the limit.

The same ECU also governs the high-performance ABS, providing even more precise control over the logic threshold and greater efficiency. The brakes also feature a prefill function whereby the pistons in the callipers move the pads into contact with the discs on lift off to minimise delay in the brakes being applied. This combined with the ABS has cut the 100-0 km/h braking distance to a mere 32.5 metres.

The Ferrari 458 Italia’s interior is another area of the car that exalts its sporty personality. The driver is welcomed by a new layout and a revolutionary ergonomic interface where the main controls are all clustered on the steering wheel.

With the Ferrari 458 Italia, Maranello has brought a highly distinctive new car to its 8-cylinder range. The company now offers two models that share a common, race-derived DNA, both exceptionally sporty and fun to drive in true Ferrari tradition, but aimed at two very different kinds of client. While the Ferrari California was created for owners requiring a more versatile sports car with a practical edge, the 458 Italia is designed for owners for whom the priority is uncompromising on-road performance with occasional track day capability, but who still demand a car that is useable in day-to-day driving like all Ferrari’s recent models.

Ferrari Festival Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant 2009

******** 2009 Ferrari F430 Challenge Pictures ********

Tomorrow starts the 2009 Ferrari F430 Challenge Pictures at Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec Canada (Google Map Here). It starts on Friday July 24, 2009 with a full day of practice laps for the Ferrari F430 Challenge as well as the Ferrari Historic Challenge. Saturday July 25th is the final morning of practices before the afternoon Qualifications and first round of races. Sunday July 25th is the 2nd round of qualifications followed by the 2nd and final race of the weekend. Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant is a 2.65-mile road course with 15 turns.

This will be my 2nd consecutive year at this event and in order to do this event justice I will be arriving locked and stocked with 2 rockstar photographers Josh McRae and Stephan Bauer. That’s how CarZi.com rolls! Anything else would just be…. well…. like every other boring image outsourced car blog out there

The Ferrari F430 Challenge is specifically designed for Ferrari owners who are not professional racers, but are looking to race purpose-built Ferrari F430 race cars while perfecting their skills in a friendly yet competitive environment.

Cars used in the F430 Challenge retain the same overall appearance and 490 horsepower engine as road-going Ferraris, while incorporating a number of significant track-oriented modifications and a host of new features not previously seen in Challenge cars.

All preparation and support is handled exclusively by authorized Ferrari dealer teams. Modifications are tightly restricted, and all engines are strictly stock and sealed to put the emphasis on driver capability.
