My favorite luxury Italian watch, Officine Panerai, announced at the British International Motor Show (BIMS) a new watch collection bearing the Ferrari name. This watch represents a cross-branded collaboration going back to 2006.

The latest watch is the Tag Heuer SLR Laptimer Chronograph which features the Calibre S electro-mechanical chronograph movement which can measure times of up to a hundredth of a second. The Tag Heuer SLR Laptimer Chronograph will be available in limited quantities this fall from Tag Heuer stores.

Today Motorola announced the availability of its latest Ferrari-branded cell phone based on the RAZR2 V9. The first country to receive the phone is Singapore with the RAZR2 V9 Ferrari Special Edition being available exclusively to SingTel subscribers. (Why? Because the 2008 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix is sponsored by SingTel).

Toyota’s latest implementation of Night Vision in its Crown Hybrid luxury sedan is a bit different than most. Unlike the company’s previous effort, which displayed images straight on the windshield, this one makes use of an LCD in the dashboard (like the Mercedes Benz below), which also does double duty by displaying the speedometer and all the vehicle’s other vitals.

On July 1, 2008 California will be the 5th state to pass a law that bans the use of any hand-held mobile device while driving your car or face a $50 fine the first time they’re caught using a cell phone while behind the wheel. That’s right, one more law for your to secretly brake while driving.

But what’s a ban for drivers is a boom for Bluetooth technology providers like Parrot who offer hands-free car kits.

Industrial designer Johnatan Cote of Morelli Designers is proposing a complete redesign of the Campagna T-Rex trike. The biggest change is the removal of the roof, which consisted of little more than a couple of tubes in the first place, but added vital roll-over protection and structural fortitude to the vehicle. Coupled with a more dynamic, modern design, the updated T-Rex proposal also incorporates more storage space, doing away with the optional saddle-bags on the current model while increasing much-needed capacity for things like crash helmets and groceries.
