Another year, another slow economy for the USA and specifically sunny Las Vegas, yet the 2011 SEMA Show Photos seems to be packed full of modified and exotic cars. It truly is something to visit SEMA, and see all the sweat, blood and money that goes into some of the custom cars and trucks at this show. The 2011 Quail Motorsports Gathering took place on the green lawn of the Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California. There was a gathering of 10 Bugatti Veyrons, a special class dedicated to the Ferrari Superamerica and of course the crazy Pagani Zonda R. California this past August. What would any car show be without the Show Girls, Bikini Models & Booth Babes? Well it just wouldn’t be a car show worth attending now would it? Even though I was unable to attend the 2010 SEMA Show this year (thanks to a friends stag a couple weeks ago), my friend and rockstar photographer Mr. Richard Owen of Supercars.net who is in attendance was nice enough to provide me with a plethora of photos to try and cheer me (and you) up. In March 2010, Lamborghini announced the release of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera – a ultra light and powerful version of the latest Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.

Utilizing carbon fiber where they could (replacing glass windows with PCB, carbon fiber rear engine cover, rear diffuser, under body paneling, exterior mirror housings, door sills and the rear spoiler) they were able to reduce the weight by 88lbs to 2954lbs which makes it the lightest road legal Lamborghini. In addition to some AWD system tweaks and a re-tuned 5.2L V10 engine, it now delivers 570hp and 398 ft-lbs of torque (vs standard LP560-4 which has 552hp). The 2010 and can do 0-100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202mph.

Even more dynamic, lighter, more powerful and stunning – the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is the new top model in the Gallardo line-up. Its evocative “superlight” badge refers to a driving machine of true sporting character and describes a high-performance and lean automotive athlete. The Superleggera makes its entrance to continue the success of its predecessor, launched in 2007, of which Lamborghini produced and sold no less than 618 in just one year.

Compared with the already lean Gallardo LP 560-4, the weight of the Gallardo Superleggera has been trimmed by 70 kilograms (154 lb). The super sportscar from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) – the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range, and a new arrival in one of the most exclusive market niche segments.

One key factor is the exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is ideal for the manufacture of sportscars as its use allows for weight reduction and improved mechanical features. The car’s performance is thus enhanced thanks to a better weight-to-power ratio and reduced total mass, which means that CO2 emissions are also lower. Lamborghini has been at the forefront in this material’s application for many years, and now the brand is extending its leadership even further.

The V10 power unit with 5.2 liters (317,6 cu in) of displacement generates 419 kW (570 CV*) in the Gallardo Superleggera. This puts the weight-to-power ratio of the new top model at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV and guarantees breathtaking performance. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera handles the dash from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 10.2 seconds later, ultimately reaching 325 km/h (202 mph). The engine with “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection also boasts an impressive degree of efficiency. Its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20,5 percent compared to the previous model.

The Gallardo Superleggera is an uncompromising driving machine. Its running gear, with its mighty braking system, has a dedicated and exceptionally precise set-up, while its 19-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa, clad in Pirelli sports rubber, are extremely light. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera brings a whole new meaning to the term “super sportscar”.

Today kicks off the 2010 Canadian International Autoshow at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. I was lucky enough to have 2 Montreal friends; Josh McRae and Stephan Bauer come chill and play with our cameras for a couple days. This years show was a little smaller than last years due to no car displays being displayed in the Rogers Center, however I was very satisfied with the show mainly due to the Carroll Shelby Display, the Audi R8 Spyder, Ferrari 599xx, Black McLaren SLR 722S, Porsche Gemballa Mirage GT that I had previously spotted (and haven’t seen since) in Toronto back in April 2008. A Red Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing and Silver Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing, HTT Plethore and PFAFF Tuning added some new excitement to the show!

Porsche has just released a new top of the line sports car, 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The new Turbo S will be equipped exclusively with the 7 speed PDK transmission (which I think is crap after driving the Porsche Panamera), has 530bhp (30hp more than the current 911 Turbo) and 516ft-lbs of Torque delivering 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 195mph!

Standard features on the 2011 911 Turbo S include launch control (Sport Chrono Package Option on other models), Porsche ceramic composite brakes (PCCB), Dynamic Bending Lights, 19 Inch RS Spyder wheels with a central locking nut, and all options from the current Porsche 911 Turbo 997. Rest assured you can feel good about your 530hp monster as it sips the same amount of fuel (26.8 mpg average) as the 911 Turbo.

The 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S will be available in May in Europe as coupe & convertible and then arrive in the U.S. during the fall 162010.

World Debut in Geneva: New Top Model in the 911 Series

Stuttgart. The engineers at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S. The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW). Maximum torque is a most impressive 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the “regular” 911 Turbo.

Despite its significant increase in power and dynamic performance, the new 911 Turbo S, at 11.4 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 24.8 mpg imp), does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, making it by far the most efficient sports car in its performance class.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Driving safety optimised to an even higher standard is ensured by Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo likewise featured as standard, 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds

Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph. Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide the same outstanding performance in terms of stopping power and controlled application of the brakes.

The supreme level of standard equipment including Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue additionally underlines the outstanding class and calibre of this first Turbo S in five years.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010. The German market price of the Turbo S Coupé is Euro 173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is Euro 145,400). The Cabriolet retails in the German market at Euro 184.546, again including 19 per cent VAT and local equipment/specifications (base price Euro 154,900).

After seeing the totally wicked Pagani Zonda R at SEMA 2009 up close and personal it has left quite the mark in my memory. With that being said, I think this one-off custom Pagani Zonda Tricolore with it’s blue carbon fiber would look spectacular out in the wild. Other than the blue carbon fiber it also sports some new LED lights and a fin installed on the back engine cover while the interior gets a unique bright blue coloring and Guarnieri emblems in the head rests.

It is definitely more tasteful than the publicity stunt Pink Pagani Zonda S

The Tajima EV Mini Sport is an all electric single seater mini formula 1 looking vehicle price around $23,000 USD (without battery) and weighs 300kgs using steel tube space frame and resin bathtub like body. The EV has a motor output of 0.59KW, delivered to the rear wheels via a drive belt which can be powered by lead or lithium polymer batteries delivering ranges of 25km (lead battery costs $2500 USD) or 90km (lithium battery costs $5500 USD) It produces a top speed of 70km/h. The Tajima Motor Corp is run by Japanese race driver Nobuhiro Tajima.

The Bugatti Veyron Grandsport 16.4 “Soleil de Nuit” (Sun of the Night) at the 2009 Dubai International Moto Show 10. This is a modern interpretation of Bugatti’s core values: Art, Forme, Technique. The “Soleil de Nuit” is the 2nd Middle East one-off model created for the 2009 Dubai Motor Show. Polished Aluminum along side Blue Metallic paint, Sang Noir rims and Burnt Orange interior mark this cars version.

The Bugatti Veyron Nocturne at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show. The Bugatti Veyron “Nocturne” has a polished aluminum hood and special polished custom rims. The interior hosts a black nanocoated magnesium dashboard and a center console in galvanized platinum!

The Bugatti Veyron Sang D’Argent at the 2009 Dubai International Motor Show 10. This one-off Veyron Sang D’argent. A subtle silver metallic mixed with polished aluminum parts enhance it’s already silver theme. It has bugatti Grand Sport rims and Havanna interior with quilting pattern on seats and saddle.
