Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Photos

In March 2010, Lamborghini announced the release of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera – a ultra light and powerful version of the latest Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.

Utilizing carbon fiber where they could (replacing glass windows with PCB, carbon fiber rear engine cover, rear diffuser, under body paneling, exterior mirror housings, door sills and the rear spoiler) they were able to reduce the weight by 88lbs to 2954lbs which makes it the lightest road legal Lamborghini. In addition to some AWD system tweaks and a re-tuned 5.2L V10 engine, it now delivers 570hp and 398 ft-lbs of torque (vs standard LP560-4 which has 552hp). The 2010 and can do 0-100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202mph.

Even more dynamic, lighter, more powerful and stunning – the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is the new top model in the Gallardo line-up. Its evocative “superlight” badge refers to a driving machine of true sporting character and describes a high-performance and lean automotive athlete. The Superleggera makes its entrance to continue the success of its predecessor, launched in 2007, of which Lamborghini produced and sold no less than 618 in just one year.

Compared with the already lean Gallardo LP 560-4, the weight of the Gallardo Superleggera has been trimmed by 70 kilograms (154 lb). The super sportscar from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) – the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range, and a new arrival in one of the most exclusive market niche segments.

One key factor is the exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is ideal for the manufacture of sportscars as its use allows for weight reduction and improved mechanical features. The car’s performance is thus enhanced thanks to a better weight-to-power ratio and reduced total mass, which means that CO2 emissions are also lower. Lamborghini has been at the forefront in this material’s application for many years, and now the brand is extending its leadership even further.

The V10 power unit with 5.2 liters (317,6 cu in) of displacement generates 419 kW (570 CV*) in the Gallardo Superleggera. This puts the weight-to-power ratio of the new top model at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV and guarantees breathtaking performance. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera handles the dash from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 10.2 seconds later, ultimately reaching 325 km/h (202 mph). The engine with “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection also boasts an impressive degree of efficiency. Its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20,5 percent compared to the previous model.

The Gallardo Superleggera is an uncompromising driving machine. Its running gear, with its mighty braking system, has a dedicated and exceptionally precise set-up, while its 19-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa, clad in Pirelli sports rubber, are extremely light. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera brings a whole new meaning to the term “super sportscar”.

SCX 2010 Supercar Experience Palm Beach

I can’t think of a better way to kick the February winter blues than to hop on a plane this afternoon and head down to Miami for the weekend to take part and cover the 2010 Supercar Experience (SCX)! Blue Monterey Lamborghini LP670-4 SV

This is the ONLY Blue Monterey Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV in the world!! This beautiful monster just flew into San Francisco Lamborghini yesterday (from Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy) and is waiting to be trucked down to Orange County to be driven by Roy Cats in the Orange County Lamborghini run February 26-27. Her final resting place will be in the hands of Roy Cats, owner of Cat’s Exotics, who also owns a Black Lamborghini Diablo GT, Yellow Lamborghini Diablo GTR and a White Lamborghini LP670-4 SV to name a few of his bulls.

The SV (SuperVeloce) V12 produces 661 hp at 8000 rpm and 490 lb·ft of torque at 6500 rpm. The LP670-4 SV comes standard with the LP640’s optional six-piston caliper, 15-inch carbon-ceramic disc brakes and able to do 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds with a claimed top speed of 342km/h (213mph) with an optional spoiler.

Underground Racing Gallardo 5000 Video

Back in October 2009 at the Texas Mile, Underground Racing (home of the World’s fastest street legal twin turbocharged Lamborghini’s) showcased their 1500hp Lamborghini Gallardo 5000 which is now the fastest Lamborghini in the world which was able to hit 241mph in 1 mile.

Power comes from Underground Racing completely rebuilding the Gallardo’s engine matted with a massive pair of 62mm turbos then fueled with C-16 racing gas. Just check out the videos and their Matte Black Twin Turbo Gallardo LP560-4 which was at SEMA 2009.

Lamborghini Ankonian Concept Photos

Wowza! Last week was the week of multi Lamborghini Concepts matched by a pretty cool looking one-off Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta! First we saw the Lamborghini Toro Concept, then the Lamborghini Madura and now the Lamborghini Ankonian Concept! The Ankonian is by far my favorite even if it’s only a outrageously murdered out looking Lamborghini Concept (for now). I definitely think it’s far sexier than the Lamborghini Reventon.

This concept was created by 21 year old Slavche Tanevski (student) at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. Led by Professor Dr. Othmar Wickenheiser, the 4th semester theme was a Lamborghini Raw Materials Project.

Slavche named the Ankonian after a special kind of bull which has black hair following hte Lamborghini brand which names their cars after famed bulls. He designed it using traditional clay molding (vs CAD Modeling) and took him 6 months yielding this spectacular result and getting the attention of Lamborghini (Audi)!

Lamborghini Madura Concept Photos

Checkout this futuristic looking Lamborghini Madura concept created by Slavche Tanevsky, a student at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. The Madura is named after an Indonesian island famous for bull races. It was created via collaboration with Lamborghini & Audi designers for Lamborghini’s raw materials project.

According to Slavche, “The Madura is a proposal for the first hybrid Lamborghini scheduled for 2016. Doing a car more efficient and more nature-friendly, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be exciting, good-looking and fast. (But) in my opinion this new propulsion system should be represented on the looks of the car.”

The Lamborghini Toro LA690-4 is a modern concept interpretation of the 1960 Lamborghini Espada aimed to compete against the Aston Martin One 77 and the newly minted Lexus LFA.

The designer Amadou Ndiaye stated that the LA 690-4 designation stands for “Longitudinale Anteriore” which translates to “Front Longitudinal” in English, while “690″ refers to the V12 engine’s fictional output and ‘4′ to the car’s all-wheel drive system. Similar nomenclature is used with the Lamborghini Murcielago LP series which indicates the engine’s Longitudinale Posteriore, or “Rear Longitudinal” position and orientation within the current LP lineup of Lamborghini’s.

Lamborghini Police Crash Photos

An Italian Police (Polizia) Lamborghini Gallardo was destroyed in an accident after being driven back from a special show for students near the city of Cremona.

The Gallardo violently smashed into some parked cars after swerving to avoid another vehicle which had just pulled out of a gas station. 2 Police officers sustained minor injuries and no one else was hurt in the crash.

Thank god Lamborghini donated 2 of these Police Gallardo’s to help the Italian Polizia keep up with speeding supercar owners.

IMSA Gallardo LP560-4 GTV Photos

Here are some GREAT shots of the IMSA tuned Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4. It’s officially called the IMSA GTV kit. We have previously seen examples of the GTV kit on the last generation Gallardo as well, most notably on the Verde Ithaca IMSA Gallardo owned by Zahir Rana of ZR Auto based in Calgary. Perfection is not to far off with this package when comparing it to many other tuning houses and aftermarket body kits for Lamborghini. Lamborghini was not going to be left out in the cold with the recent Ferrari 458 Italia unveiling in Frankfurt 2009 so they whipped up their own Lamborhini Reventon Roadster and a movie to go along with it’s debut. Toronto’s skyline even makes an appearance in the movie at the 1:14-1:16 mark!

Lamborghini Factory Italy

Lamborghinis factory in SantAgata Bolognese, Italy builds its fastest car ever the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV, of which just 350 will be made. The factory builds the car almost entirely by hand including its engine and body. The SV is also painted and assembled by hand, including installation of the famous Lamborghini scissor doors. Every car is custom-built to order and 2.7 cars are completed per day! Catch the National Geographic series “Ultimate Factories” which will showcase the Lamborghini Factory on October 1 at 8pm ET/PT!

The engine is brought to life for the first time during this diagnostic test. The test takes two hours in a hot test chamber. It is put through a series of computer based test. The tests check its mechanical linkages, its seals, and its ability to withstand heat.

The body shell in the paint booth before making its journey to the assembly line. It is hand painted by a team of two painters. One painter paints the inside and another paints the exterior. No two painters can paint exactly alike and the finished product will appear flawless only if it is painted by the same person.

A Lamborghini is being put through the roll test, one of the numerous quality check points in the Sant Agata Bolognese Factory. Braking, transmission and the ability to handle speed are checked. Technicians will take the car up to speeds as fast as 100 mph.

The Sant’Agata facility also has a new photovoltaic rooftop that’s said to create 1582 Megawatt hour of annual energy. This alone will cut CO2 by 20% in two years’ time!
