Porsche has just released a new top of the line sports car, 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The new Turbo S will be equipped exclusively with the 7 speed PDK transmission (which I think is crap after driving the Porsche Panamera), has 530bhp (30hp more than the current 911 Turbo) and 516ft-lbs of Torque delivering 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 195mph!

Standard features on the 2011 911 Turbo S include launch control (Sport Chrono Package Option on other models), Porsche ceramic composite brakes (PCCB), Dynamic Bending Lights, 19 Inch RS Spyder wheels with a central locking nut, and all options from the current Porsche 911 Turbo 997. Rest assured you can feel good about your 530hp monster as it sips the same amount of fuel (26.8 mpg average) as the 911 Turbo.

The 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S will be available in May in Europe as coupe & convertible and then arrive in the U.S. during the fall 162010.

Stuttgart. The engineers at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S. The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW). Maximum torque is a most impressive 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the “regular” 911 Turbo.

Despite its significant increase in power and dynamic performance, the new 911 Turbo S, at 11.4 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 24.8 mpg imp), does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, making it by far the most efficient sports car in its performance class.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Driving safety optimised to an even higher standard is ensured by Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo likewise featured as standard, 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds

Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph. Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide the same outstanding performance in terms of stopping power and controlled application of the brakes.

The supreme level of standard equipment including Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue additionally underlines the outstanding class and calibre of this first Turbo S in five years.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010. The German market price of the Turbo S Coupé is Euro 173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is Euro 145,400). The Cabriolet retails in the German market at Euro 184.546, again including 19 per cent VAT and local equipment/specifications (base price Euro 154,900).

Recent Porsche Panamera headlines strongly suggest that Porsche will be producing a 2 door, 4 seat Panamera Convertivle! “We have a broad range of 14 derivatives of the 911 that are very successful,” development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer told Automobilwoche. “So it stands to reason we should diversify the lineup for the Panamera as well.” Wolfgang also said that “the new Porsche (Panamera) offers the potential for synergies.”….. we’ll see

Lumma Design has just recently released their Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT widebody upgrade kit sporting an aggressive aerodynamic race friendly front clip, massive wheel arches to house 22 inch deep dish rims, a monstrous brake system upgrade and a 1.38 inch drop in suspension. Obviously the massive carbon fiber race wing offers some additional downforce when combined with their updated rear clip with diffuser.

Underneath the hood, Lumma has made some mods to pump out 700hp, and given the exhaust an upgrade to let the monster breath and sound via quad pipes. Stay tuned for more detailed updates

Porsche has upped the ante once again with their freshest and most recent round of tweaks on the already uber impressive Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The new and improved naturally-aspirated GT3 RS engine grows to 3.8L and the six-cylinder boxer engine redlines at a screaming 8500rpm to deliver 450hp (up 35hp). It also has a brand new exclusive 6 speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency allowing even higher potential top track speeds.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its continual improved engineered connection to motorsports through its dynamic aerodynamic looks, low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system. The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

Depending on driving conditions, dynamic engine mounts change their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving the snot out of her, yet it provided an extremely comfortable ride during daily driving street use.

Porsche has also added a new option in 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

Delivering even more engine power, lower weight and shorter transmission ratios, as well as upgraded body and suspension components than all previous GT3s, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the foundation for homologating the race version of the 911 GT3 and will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009.

The heart of the new, uncompromising GT3 RS is the power unit. Like the engine featured in the 911 GT3, the naturally-aspirated RS power unit now displaces 3.8 liters and delivers even more power, while revving up even faster to its 8500 rpm redline. It now delivers 450 horsepower, 15 more horsepower than its 911 GT3 counterpart. Even with a specific output of more than 118 hp per liter from the six-cylinder boxer engine, the power unit in the new GT3 RS remains fully suitable for everyday use.

The new 911 GT3 RS comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency. To enhance the level of performance throughout the entire range of engine and road speed, the transmission comes with shorter ratios than found in the 911 GT3, deliberately conceding an even higher potential top track speed.

Dynamic engine mounts are standard and serve to improve the car’s handling to an even higher level. Depending on driving conditions, the mounts change in their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving under very lively conditions, yet allow for more comfortable conditions during everyday street use.

Porsche is also introducing another new option in 2010 for the GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

To further improve its sporting behavior, the new 911 GT3 RS comes with a purpose-built and specially set up PASM suspension, a wider front and rear track and corresponding bodywork.

The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires while the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating 325/30 ZR 19 sports tires.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its close connection to motorsport through its dynamic looks, in particular by its low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system.

The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

For those (such as myself) questioning “what is a shooting brake”?

According to Wikipedia: A Shooting-brake is a 2-door car body style with a squared-off rear which generally have hatchbacks although one or a pair of side-hinged doors are also sometimes seen.

The term originated with custom built 2-door luxury estate cars altered for use by hunters and other sportsmen such as golfers, riders, and polo players requiring easy access to larger storage areas than offered by the typical automobile boot.

This Porsche driver lost control on a long and gradual on ramp in Calgary Alberta taking down a lamp post and plunging straight into a ditch. Thankfully, the driver walked away unhurt. The driver had a miraculous escape after the lamp post struck the car just behind the driver door.

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS!! Team Polizei 144 Porsche GT3

Alex Roy and Team Polizei will be making its professional racing debut in the Grand-Am Rolex Series (Mazda Raceway) in Monterey California on May 17th. Henri Richard and Rene Villeneuve will pilot # 63 – Team Polizei 144 Porsche GT3. Both drivers are very familiar with the challenging 2.2-mile, 11-turn Laguna Seca circuit.

Alex Roy currently holds the unofficial driving record from New York to Los Angeles in a staggering 31 hours and four minutes. (Keep in mind that I plan on beating this record before I die)

Team Polizei will compete in the Grand-Am Rolex GT class at Laguna Seca with a TRG prepared Porsche GT3.

“I couldn’t be more proud than to see Team Polizei enter the Grand-Am Rolex Series,” Roy, Team Polizei’s president said. “With Richard and Villeneuve at the helm, and TRG behind us, even I can’t believe it.”

“For me, racing in the Rolex Grand-Am Series is a natural progression towards my ultimate objective of being able to participate to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring,” Richard said. “The Rolex Grand-Am series is truly the premiere road racing series in the US and provides a level of competitiveness that sets the bar and provides a perfect proving ground for endurance racing.”

“Laguna Seca is my home track and my favorite track! I work there daily with the Skip Barber Racing School, so obviously I know the track very well,” Villeneuve continued. “I love the elevation changes and blind corners. Everyone talks about the “Corkscrew” which is fantastic, but I have found that there are other more challenging corners that can be the difference between a good lap and a not so good lap! For me, it is just going to be a matter adapting what I know about the track to the Rolex GT car.”

Kevin Buckler (TRG team owner) is looking forward to introducing the team to Grand-Am racing this weekend!

“Polizei is a great brand and we are excited to bring them into professional sports car racing,” Buckler said. “Their program is exciting and fits well with our aggressive style of brand presentation within the series. It’s very cool what Alex has done in complex viral marketing backed by a very hip and edgy concept with terrific results. I love it. Henri and Rene are an awesome team and have a lot of laps at Laguna and we are looking forward to helping them be very successful in their first Grand-Am GT race.”

TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of motor racing ever since. The team has the most wins of any team in the Grand-Am Rolex Series with 26, including the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Series GT championship trophy to go along with wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A senior Porsche test driver was killed when Porsche 911 Turbo 998 Cabrio prototype that he was driving crashed on an unrestricted part of the German Autobahn midway between Frankfurt and Heidelberg. The prototype convertible was completely crushed.

Porsche say that the accident was not as a result of a high speed testing, but rather the Endurance testing that the car was undergoing where three different drivers pilot the car around-the-clock. The company did confirm that the vehicle was a next-generation 911 Cabriolet, known as the 991.

The Porsche Panamera finally made it’s glorious debut to the world yesterday at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show in China. The new 4 door Porsche will be available as a 4.8L V8 which delivers 400hp and a twin turbo 500hp option. Rumors suggest a Hybrid option by the end of the year. For those wondering why Porsche chose to unveil the Panamera in China is because Porsche sales grew 140% last year in Asia.

The 2010 Porsche Panamera will go on sale this October in the U.S., starting at $89,000 and up to $132,000 for the turbo model.

In recognition of CAFE standards the Panamera sports an engine start/stop technology which turns the engine on and off when not needed (such as when stopped at traffic lights or heavy traffic).
