VRAlexander Dead: Spectre 341 Challenge Accident

RIP “Alexander Djordjevic. Famously known online as ‘VRAlexander’, Alex was a true motorsport enthousiast and a rockstar entrepreneur.

VRAlexander had a tragic accident at the 1st Annual Spectre 341 Challenge hill climb road race event this past weekend (June 26, 2010) in his Porsche 996TT. Very few facts are available at this time, however speculation and rumors suggest there might have been an engine fire failure coupled with a accident involving the non guardrail cliff.

VIRGINA CITY, Nev. — A Las Vegas race car driver was killed when his Porsche slid off a curvy, mountain highway that had been closed to traffic for a sanctioned against-the-clock race.

Alexander Djordjevic, 37, died Saturday afternoon while competing in the Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge near the historic mining town of Virginia City, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said Monday.

Djordjevic was wearing a seat belt and helmet. But Allen said his silver 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo was traveling at an “extremely high rate of speed” before it rolled down the embankment off state Highway 341, known as Geiger Grade, which connects Reno to Virginia City, around 4:50 p.m.

The sponsor, Spectre Performance, billed the race as pitting “the world’s fastest street cars against the clock in a full throttle blast up a mountain road.”

Djordjevic told KTVN-TV of Reno before the race that it was a “challenge to yourself and your street car to do well.”

The 5.2-mile stretch of highway was closed during the race, Allen said. The company secured the necessary state permit along with approval from Lyon and Storey counties, he said.

Alex came from an entrepreneurial background. Over the years, Alex had secured several patents and founded/co-founded dozens of business ventures. His rockstar entrepreneurial status was gained by 7 different corporations owned under his VC company stem from early Silicon Valley start ups to Vegas Casino, restaurant and bar venues. Him and his custom cars have been featured in Magazines and TV programs such as ‘PINKS’ and ‘Supercars Exposed’.

His latest philanthropic venture was the creation of the US Military Charity; a non-profit charity dedicated to help US military troops re-integrate to civilian life from overseas duties.

Spectre Performance announces hill climb road race challenge where the fastest street cars on earth will race up infamous Nevada Highway 341

Ontario, Calif. (Feb. 5, 2010) – Spectre Performance is proud to announce the return of road racing competition to one of the most infamous and challenging mountain roads in America – Nevada Highway 341 – for The 1st annual Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge. The race, scheduled for June 25-26, 2010, will pit the world’s fastest street cars against the clock in a full-throttle blast up a mountain road, which will be closed to the public for the event. The challenge will include Pro-Touring Street Machines, European Exotics, and Highly-Tuned Imports competing for a chance to be crowned King of the Hill.

The Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge is a rare opportunity to drive flat-out on some of the most aggressive and challenging mountain roads in the country, without the worry of oncoming traffic or law enforcement. The course is 5.2 miles long with 22+ turns, a 1,216-foot rise in elevation, steep drop offs and no guardrails! Vehicles must be street-legal and registered. Tires must be DOT legal with at least 3/32? tread depth and a minimum 100 tread wear rating. Qualifying is scheduled for Friday, June 25th. Racing is set for Saturday the 26th.

The original Virginia City Hill Climb was founded in 1972 and ran through 2002. Porsche GT3 R Hybrid

Contrary to Michael Macht (Porsche CEO) recent statement that Porsche technology will continue to be centered around improving efficiency and not creating hybrids “We want brake regeneration and stop-start for our sports cars, but not hybrid,” explains Macht, here is the Porsche GT3 R Hybrid which will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

This new Porsche Hybrid will be based on the RWD Porsche 911 GT3 R that will take delivery to track privateers later this year. In addition to the 480hp 4.0L Flat Six it will have 2 electric motors that drive the front wheels.

Where the passenger seat would normally go, is a flywheel and energy storage unit (see photo above) that will convert and store kinetic braking energy until needed. The stored kinetic energy equates to 120kW which means 160hp to the front wheels available in 6-8 seconds bursts controlled by a button on the steering wheel.

Further to Michael Macht recent comments regarding P Cars, “They’re not driven in the city”, I fully disagree with that statement because here in Toronto and Montreal Canada Porsche 911′s are extremely common daily driver city cars.

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Details

Porsche has just released a new top of the line sports car, 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The new Turbo S will be equipped exclusively with the 7 speed PDK transmission (which I think is crap after driving the Porsche Panamera), has 530bhp (30hp more than the current 911 Turbo) and 516ft-lbs of Torque delivering 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 195mph!

Standard features on the 2011 911 Turbo S include launch control (Sport Chrono Package Option on other models), Porsche ceramic composite brakes (PCCB), Dynamic Bending Lights, 19 Inch RS Spyder wheels with a central locking nut, and all options from the current Porsche 911 Turbo 997. Rest assured you can feel good about your 530hp monster as it sips the same amount of fuel (26.8 mpg average) as the 911 Turbo.

The 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S will be available in May in Europe as coupe & convertible and then arrive in the U.S. during the fall 162010.

The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW). The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010. Recent Porsche Panamera headlines strongly suggest that Porsche will be producing a 2 door, 4 seat Panamera Convertivle! “We have a broad range of 14 derivatives of the 911 that are very successful,” development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer told Automobilwoche. “So it stands to reason we should diversify the lineup for the Panamera as well.” Wolfgang also said that “the new Porsche (Panamera) offers the potential for synergies.”….. we’ll see

Lumma Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT Photos

Lumma Design has just recently released their Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT widebody upgrade kit sporting an aggressive aerodynamic race friendly front clip, massive wheel arches to house 22 inch deep dish rims, a monstrous brake system upgrade and a 1.38 inch drop in suspension. Obviously the massive carbon fiber race wing offers some additional downforce when combined with their updated rear clip with diffuser.

Underneath the hood, Lumma has made some mods to pump out 700hp, and given the exhaust an upgrade to let the monster breath and sound via quad pipes. Stay tuned for more detailed updates

Porsche has upped the ante once again with their freshest and most recent round of tweaks on the already uber impressive Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The new and improved naturally-aspirated GT3 RS engine grows to 3.8L and the six-cylinder boxer engine redlines at a screaming 8500rpm to deliver 450hp (up 35hp). It also has a brand new exclusive 6 speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency allowing even higher potential top track speeds.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its continual improved engineered connection to motorsports through its dynamic aerodynamic looks, low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system. The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

Depending on driving conditions, dynamic engine mounts change their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving the snot out of her, yet it provided an extremely comfortable ride during daily driving street use.

Porsche has also added a new option in 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

Depending on driving conditions, the mounts change in their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving under very lively conditions, yet allow for more comfortable conditions during everyday street use.

Porsche is also introducing another new option in 2010 for the GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

To further improve its sporting behavior, the new 911 GT3 RS comes with a purpose-built and specially set up PASM suspension, a wider front and rear track and corresponding bodywork.

The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires while the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating 325/30 ZR 19 sports tires.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its close connection to motorsport through its dynamic looks, in particular by its low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system.

The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

The name Jeremie Paret might ring some bells if you follow CarZi. Last September of 2008 we introduced Jeremie’s first project the Jeremie Paret Lamborghini Gallardo LP560. Jeremie has now produced and released this pictures and details of his own modified version of the Porsche Cayenne called the BALROG and I must say it looks BAD ASS!

The Porsche Cayenne Balrog Pictures is an aggressive wide bodied update package for the Cayenne. Jeremie spent 8 months researching the market as well as his potential clients in order to deliver you this elegant yet aggressive design package. The update includes a new bold “in your face” front clip which is not only form fitting but also functional which allows for improved cooling of hte Cayenne’s intercoolers and front brakes. It has Turbo side lights and BMW’esque angel eye/corona style fog lamps to further increase it’s sexyness.

The wide body kit allows for some large wheels which would further improve road stability and most likely ride comfort, even if you are sacrificing some fuel economy. For those (such as myself) questioning “what is a shooting brake”?

According to Wikipedia: A Shooting-brake is a 2-door car body style with a squared-off rear which generally have hatchbacks although one or a pair of side-hinged doors are also sometimes seen.

The term originated with custom built 2-door luxury estate cars altered for use by hunters and other sportsmen such as golfers, riders, and polo players requiring easy access to larger storage areas than offered by the typical automobile boot.
